Requirement
To monitor various equipment and
the ambient laboratory environment at a leading medical research
center.

Solution
Two dataTaker 500s and two Channel
Expansion Modules were installed in the center's data room. The
data loggers were set up to capture and log data from a variety
of sensors throughout the building via copper and fibre-optic
cables.
The dataTakers in turn are connected to a PC running
software to supervise the data loggers and to manage returned data. Researchers
anywhere in the building can access this data via the center's computer
network.
An important feature of the dataTaker data loggers
is exploited in this application - the data loggers operate independently
of the laboratory control system, and will continue to collect data even
if the laboratory control system goes off-line. There is no danger of
losing valuable data.
